The Magic of Aeration
There are many benefits of core aeration which are outlined in our aerator page. Here is a quick review on how Core Aeration keeps your lawn greener, reducing the cost of WATERING by:
1) Improving drainage & reduce runoff
2) Reducing soil compaction
3) Controlling thatch development
4) Reducing drought damage
5) Allowing water, air, and nutrients direct access to the root system.
6) When combined with over seeding, allows for new grass plants to mature with deeper roots.
7)Dense turf will out compete and drown out weeds as an organic weed control!

When you aerate your lawn, it stimulates growth. It thins out your lawn a little and allows the most healthy parts of your lawn to grow back the quickest.
Your lawn stays greener because it doesn’t need as much water to stay green, and because deeper roots have more access to nutrients resulting in being the greenest lawn of the neighborhood
Aerating your lawn along side with over seeding makes it a lot easier to seed your lawn if you have holes for the seeds to fall into, and you have the core plugs on the surface to help seeds germinate.
When you aerate lawn, you pull up beneficial bacteria from under the soil that can help break down thatch that is on top of the surface of the soil.
Aerating reduces your dependency on fertilizers. Because it can help promote more organic material in your soil, it means that the organic material will be producing fertilizer for you, and it allows your roots to go deeper so they can have access to more of the soil that is already underneath your lawn.
Aerating will help to prevent grubs from infiltrating and destroying your lawn by strengthening the root system which is the first thing that gets attacked by grubs, and by helping to break down thatch where grubs typically hide.

When water sits on top of your lawn for long periods of time, it can easily develop a lawn disease or fungus. When you aerate, you make it easier for water to penetrate and not just sit on top of the surface of the soil, and this reduces the chances of getting lawn disease. (instead of using fungicides)
For rapid grass growth, make sure to aerate in the Spring and Fall.
Aerating makes your grass more resistant to drought. (deeper grass roots than your average
plant)
